It's a bit of a small screen to play backgammon, but, you can make it work if you're ready to be very precise about how you touch a column to move. Sometimes you'll get the wrong column, but, after a try or two you tend to get it right.
The only real problem I have with the game is that the dice rolling doesn't seem to be very random. It's amazing how many more doubles the computer gets compared to me and how often when the computer has a piece on the bar, it rolls the exact number to land on one of my single pieces (often, I have only one single piece out of six that it can land on). In fact, most of the time (80%) it gets this die roll and sends me to the bar.
So, I've altered my playing to deal with these anomalies. Thus, if you want to learn about backgammon, this probably isn't the right game to choose. But, if you're comfortable with the game and don't mind changing your playing strategy, it's well worth it.
