Baby Jogger makes some exceptional strollers and is one of the best brands to go with if you live in a city since most of their strollers are lightweight, easily collapsible, and ultra-compact—perfect for taking on public transportation or collapsing down to fit into tiny apartments. One of Baby Jogger’s most convenient strollers is the City Select, which could easily be the most versatile stroller out there. With 16 different configuration combinations that can accommodate up to two kids, this stroller is designed with growing families in mind.
This stroller is the ultimate baby carrying system. Everything on the City Select is fully adjustable. If you are even considering expanding your family, or if you already have more than one kid, you’ll want to check out the City Select. Truly one-of-a-kind, this stroller can convert into almost any seating configuration you’ll ever need. You can have either one or two kids facing forward, backward, or inward toward each other. Alternatively, one or two newborns can face in or out. A newborn and a baby can also face each other, or face forward or backward. You get the picture. Within each seat configuration, more adjustments can be made as well. There are multiple seat recline positions, multiple sun canopy positions with adjustable head heights, adjustable 5-point safety harnesses, and multi-position foot rests. Additionally the stroller handlebar has multiple positions for parents too.
Storage and Portability
The City Select features quick-fold technology allowing it to fold up in one step and latch together for easy transport. Another great aspect of the Select is the ample storage: the basket beneath the seat is HUGE and is accessible from all sides.
The Select is agile and easy to steer with wheels that turn sharply and quickly. The ride is smooth due to the front wheel suspension and sealed ball bearings and the wheels are all-terrain featuring extra large 12” forever-air rear wheels and 8” lightweight swivel front wheels that can lock into place. For quick stops the Select features a hand-operated parking break.
With a couple key add-ons, the City Select can reach its full potential of 16 different configurations all rolled into one mega-stroller. In order to utilize this great feature, you’ll want to get a second seat and/or a bassinet or two.
Second Seat Kit
This second seat will allow you to convert your single City Select stroller into a double. Once you’ve got two seats, your babies can both face forward, backward or even face each other. The front and rear seat arrangement is the way to go for multiples in the city, since it will allow you to maneuver narrow sidewalks and tight spaces much easier than a side-by-side multiple stroller.
This fabric kit will allow the City Select stroller to carry a newborn or two, in multiple configurations of course.
Quality of Materials: 5/5
This stroller is solid and certainly feels sturdy and well balanced. The metal does scratch up easily however. The magnetized peek-a-boo window is another wonderful feature and it opens and closes silently as to not wake up sleeping babies.
Practicality & Comfort: 5/5
It doesn’t get more practical than this. With all the various configurations, this stroller will also have a long shelf life since it can accommodate additions to your family. Comfort-wise the ride is smooth thanks to shock-absorbing wheels and well-made materials. All the pieces are easy to assemble and to switch out as well.
Looks & Design: 4/5
Although I wouldn't choose this stroller for appearance alone, and the color combinations could stand to be more exciting, the City Select can do so much that in this case appearance takes a back seat to functionality. The design of the Select is smart, and there is just no stroller out there like it.
This stroller is perfect if you want a stroller that can do more than just wheel your baby around. It accommodates newborns effortlessly, as well as twins, and multiple kids, and it’s sturdy enough to last for many years. It’s perfect for either one kid or two. Would I recommend this stroller to all my friends? Definitely.
