B.o.B's Underground Luxury is more luxury than underground

Underground Luxury by B.o.B

The multitalented Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., aka B.o.B, of Grand Hustle, Atlantic, and Rebel Rock Entertainment is at it again with is third studio LP, Underground Luxury. Appealing to fans of pop rap's new school, B.o.B has managed to merge pop music and rap while still qualifying as a hip hop emcee in its most basic definition. While his first two albums nicely captured an alternative imagination lacking in contemporary hip hop, Underground Luxury mainly celebrates wealth and material aspirations, forgoing the trailblazing spirit of its antecedent albums. There are a few exciting moments that pop up when superficiality is momentarily held at bay; however, this is as deep as the album gets. A few interesting interludes of Bun B interviewing the Decatur, Georgia native help explain the meaning behind everything, but prepare for a party and not a preaching on this album from B.o.B.
