Do you like to sneak in fun learning tools during your day? If so, St. Louis area Barnes & Noble stores just might be your one-stop, finish your Christmas, birthday, and educational needs shopping store.
The game is a perfect last-minute gift idea or a fun educational game to enjoy on New Year’s Eve or family game night. The game provides creative thinking opportunities while mixing in vocabulary and other learning lessons. Morphology just won a 2012 Teacher’s Choice Award for the Family from Learning Magazine.
Morphology is played much like Pictionary. Only, instead of simply drawing a picture, you use provided materials: wooden sticks, string, colorful glass circles, plastic cubes, and a few other craft pieces to demonstrate words for other players to guess. There are challenges along the way, such as building your word with your eyes closed, or using only a piece of string. The game is recommended for ages 13+, but there are a set of Hard words along with a set of Easy words, that children much younger can have fun with as well.
Here’s just some of what can be learned while playing Morphology:
- Vocabulary words
- Creative art
- Tactile learning
- Working together as a team (Communication)
- Critical Thinking
- Visual learning
- Quick thinking skills
- Counting skills
- Friendly competition (Relationship Building)

Note: The St. Louis Homeschooling Examiner was given a sample version of the game in exchange for an honest written review, which is 100% her own opinion.
