At The Movies in 2013 (Video)

2013 will prove to be a power house year with not one but two familiar super hero favorites, first, after a long series absence. The Man of Steele, Superman one of the most powerful and most valueable character of all time, which features actor, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Kal-El aka Superman. The story begins when young Kal-El's transported to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet where his father Jor-El played by
'Russell Crowe', is their head scientist and council member. Luckily there's little opportunity for 'Russell Crowe', to do much upstaging like he did in "Les Mis" since his character's phased out pretty early on. Clark's adoptive parents Martha played by 'Diane Lane' and Jonathan Kent 'Kevin Costner', on the other hand ham it up enough since they're forced not only to play old, but shape by the values of Clark,s adoptive parents . It's hard not to remember 'Sally Field' at 40 playing Forest Gumps mom. It's was as over the top as watching 'Diane Lane' play Clark's adoptive mom, and 'Kevin Costner was too energetic and over the top. Casting actual older actors obviously was too much to ask for, Clint Eastwood and 007's Judi Dench would have beena better choice.

Meanwhile, during this casting dilemma, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'What is my destiny? 'Do I like girls'? 'Will I still get Wi-Fi over 40,000 feet above Starbucks?
But as Clark Kent, he's a twenty-something journalist who feels isolated by his powers beyond imagination, and he can't get his screenplay based on his life sold to 'Steven Spielberg". Danger strikes when Earth is under attack from General Zod played by 'Michael Shannon;, and Antje Traue as Faora.Superman and his families both here on Earth and Krypton are attacked by an army of Robots from his previous planet Krypton wanting to destroy Superman to ensure he cannot reclaim head council on Krypton. Forcing Clark to become the Man he was destined to become and protect the people
on Earth he now loves and shine as the world's shining light of hope as the Man of Steel .

Tony's braun will be tested at every turn, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, with his back against the wall, with only his cleverness and ability, he fights his way back,to protect those closest to him. Tony Stark then finds the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man wearing the white suit a better dancer or does Pepper in the red dress make the man dancing mediocre look better? And can Iron Man score more chicks flying two girls at a time up to his palce?
Luckily toupee'd co-star 'Jon Favreau' won’t be returning as director, but the good news is that Shane Black of 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' fame will, and Robert Downey, Jr. is still a commanding presence. The hitch arises if Black has to weave an Iron Man plotline into a potential Avengers sequel. All due respect to The Avengers, but we go to an Iron Man movie to see a movie about Iron Man. Not Thor or The Hulk.

'Oblivion': which will be 2013 Sci-Fi film of the year, in this upcoming film release from Joseph Kosinski, who gave us TRON: Legacy. Even kids who aren’t fans of Tom Cruise anymore, will find this project is exciting: Why because #1. It’s an original movie. and # 2. it’s sci-fi, written by William Monahan of 'The Departed' and that has to be worth
something, right? It's about, a fantasy about a former solider who is the last person left on Earth after a war with an alien race. When he encounters the lone survivor of a crashed spacecraft an attractive woman, and it’s not Cameron Diaz, see this movie has a shot. the two set off on an epic adventure. It’s one of the many intriguing sci-fi flicks on this list.

'Elysium': is Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to 'District 9', starring 'Matt Damon'. 'Jodie Foster'. 'William Fichtner'. 'Sharlto Copley'. Hey,what more do you want? So far the contents is a mystery, but like District 9, the mysterious details will begin to emerge in the middle of July for an early August release. Hey for a change, maybe we can actually go into a theater without having every detail spoiled, without having every scene released in trailers and clips, without having movie blogs like this one examining every bit of action before screens. Yeah right, it’s a lot to ask and completely unrealistic, but miracles can happen.
