Aspiring designers competed at Tampa's 2013 Cocoa Couture Fashion Show (Photos)

Where do you find thousands of candy wrappers and candy converted into masterpieces. Designers competed at Tampa's 2013 Cocoa Couture Fashion Show held yesterday at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI).

It was the third annual Festival of Chocolate that entails many events including a unique fashion show competition that under went successfully Saturday. Fifteen of Tampa Bay's own rising fashion designers and students put their creativity and talent to work. Countless hours, thousands of chocolate candy wrappers - Dove, Hersheys; numerous candy favorites as actual Tootsie Rolls and black licorice were used to create the latest chocolate fashions. Each garment had to contain at least 50% candy and or candy wrappers.

From bride dresses, casual and elegant wear, a rocker including a peacock theme dress graced the "yumway" to ooo's, aaaa's and aww's of spectators. There were fashions for children and adults for both genders alike.

The participating designers - Morgan Sellers, Brenda Jackson, Jaquita Johnson, Kara Hill, Gabriela Dobreva, Laura Hoyos, Anna Curtin, Shannon Donahue, Gyslaine Brasil, Chelsea Greenwalt, Andrea Omboni, Dragana Bubic-Rodriquez, Nicole Tarantelli, Rickela Sessoms and Patricia George - all are winners for their dedication, aspiration and creativity. The fashion judges Lacey B. Smith, Donna Crowley and Farrah Estrella chose Andria Omboni designer of the peacock inspired dress as the winner of this year's Cocoa Couture Fashion Show. Andria used four colors of Dove chocolate wrappers to take the $250 prize.

After the fashion show the garments were put on display for attendees to vote for fan favorite that will be announced on Monday, January 21 as the last day of the Festival of Chocolate comes to an end.

There is one more day left for the festival where there is also going to be two Guinness World Record attempts on Monday, January 21. Entry is included with MOSI admission: adults $21.95; seniors $19.95 and children (ages 2 - 12) $17.95; MOSI members' adults $10 and children 12 and under free.
