As I Am Coconut Cowash

I have always been trying to find the perfect dupe to Wen hair care that isn't so pricey and works well. The problem I kept having with most "cleansing conditioners" was that they would leave a residue behind in my hair so my roots never actually felt clean, or my hair would feel clean in the shower, but once it was dry i could tell that there was still product build up and oil in my hair.

I am glad to have finally found something that I love and is actually cheap. The product is As I Am Coconut Cowash. Apparently it is marketed towards African American hair, but it works on any hair type, and especially works wonders if you have dry, damaged hair like myself. My hair has been through the ringer. I am the most indecisive female who gets bored with their hair easily and wants to constantly switch things up. Just in the past six months I have had highlights, dyed it back dark, stripped it back to a light color again with bleach, ombre, back to dark, highlighted again, slightly darkened and then bleached the ends to put blue in it. To say that my hair is damaged would be an understatement.

I usually wash my hair every other day, but even though my shampoos were "sulfate free" and "moisturizing" I still felt like every time I washed my hair that it was being stripped, and dried out. All the drugstore Cleansing Conditioners I tried left my hair still feeling greasy. There was no middle ground.

As I am Coconut Cowash has been a life saver! It is like a cream consistency, doesn't foam at all or contain soap. When you first use it, you will feel skeptical about it. It will feel like you are trying to wash your roots with conditioner, but trust me, it works. Just wet your hair like you normally would before your shampoo and take about a golf ball sized amount and massage it through your roots and into your scalp, and rinse. Your hair will not only feel clean, but soft. It feels just as clean as it would with a regular shampoo but without the overly dried out feeling after. The fragrance is pretty light, and doesn't really leave a scent behind in your hair. The container is big and I can see it lasting a long time. I know it is a co-wash but so far I haven't used a regular shampoo to clean my hair in 2 weeks and it still feels clean. This stuff is a lifesaver especially for color treated hair, as it will not strip your color! I purchased mine from my local Sally Beauty Supply. I give this 5/5 stars.
