After initially seeing, Ben Affleck's CIA thriller, show biz bloggers all said even then producers Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Grant Heslov..Argo-onna..win big, and they did on Oscar Night. Funny it's Oscar chances during it's debut run appeared to have been underestimated when it's multi-tasking star and director as well as producer, wasn't nominated for directing the thriller. Graced recently with top prizes from the Directors Guild of America and the Producers Guild of America. 'Argo',also won the BAFTA for best film, and respectively a Golden Globe for best drama, and the Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding cast in a motion picture.
The film's,based on true life events about CIA agent Tony Mendez, who orchestrates the rescue of six Americans hiding during an Iran hostage crisis after a 1979 takeover of the American embassy. Leading to an orchestrated escape plot hinging on the creation of a fake movie crew and bogus film, 'Argo' managed to grab the top prize as well as also winning Oscars for editing and adapted screenplay.
Ben Affleck while not being included in the director category,his nominee snubs may have been the best thing that could have happened for the film's awards chances, as voter sentiment seemed to swing heavily in "Argo's" favor, and away from "Lincoln," almost immediately in the critics and guild awards that followed recently. Including last night at the Oscars, where there hasn't been an Oscar upset that shocking since 1989 when "Driving Miss Daisy," took best picture while the directing award went to Oliver Stone for "Born on the Fourth of July."

There were predicted nods, "Les Miserables" took an early lead on the night thanks to Anne Hathaway's win for best supporting actress. Portraying the doomed prostitute Fantine, she began her speech by first thanking her costar Hugh Jackman, before saying, "Here's hoping that someday in the not too distant future the misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories and not in real life."
Beating out a deep field of previous Oscar winners to take Best Supporting actor Christoph Waltz for his role in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained." It was another
Tarantino film, "Inglourious Basterds," for which Waltz won the same award in 2009. Also Christoph Waltz should also get an Emmy nod for a recent appearance on SNL, where he played a funny but scary portrayal of the Pope and also Jesus. Director Quentin Tarantino himself would later be called onstage to accept the award for original screenplay for "Django."
Not coming as a shock in the acting categories, with the majority of Oscars being handed to favorites. It was still a shock to the actress who was tripping and falling on her
voluminous Dior gown as she made her way up the stairs her way up to accept her Best Actress Oscar, was winner Jennifer Lawrence. Earning her statue for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook." She began tearing up saying "You guys are standing up because you feel bad that I fell."
While unglamorusly coming out on stage yanking a lot of her dress and granny bloomers out of her butt crack, Oscar winner Meryl Streep, presented Best Actor to winner Daniel Day-Lewis walking away with his third win in the category.Cracking wise that he had originally committed to play Margaret Thatcher and that it was Meryl Streep who was Spielberg's first choice to play the titular role of "Lincoln,"She laughed as she continued to pull more fabric out of her crack.
After the show, the star studded post Oscar parties continued til dawn.
