Anthrax and Testament at Best Buy Theater

I’d have posted this sooner but sickness rendered me inert. On Wednesday night, Anthrax and Testament showed the Best Buy Theater why they are and continue to remain two of the most respected bands in heavy metal.

Testament fans were in a frenzy when the band came onto play. From the opening chord the crowd was moshing and banging their fists in the air to classics like “The Preacher,” “Practice What You Preach,” and “Souls of Black” I loved watching vocalist Chuck Billy pretend his microphone stand was a guitar and when he announced “Into the Pit” the mosh pit exploded. Great job by a great band.

Anthrax kicked things off with material off the new album Worship Music and what better songs then “Earth Is On Hell” and the single “Fight’em Till You Can’t” before hitting the crowd with the classics “Caught in a Mosh” and “Antisocial.” Singer Joey Belladonna had the crowd eating out of his hand especially when he called for a war dance before “Indians.” Everyone was more then happy to oblige.  The band also dug into their archive with “Medusa,” “Metal Thrashing Mad,” and “Deathrider.” But don’t worry favorites like “Among the Living” and “Madhouse,” the Judge Dread (comic not movie) inspired “I am the Law” and a little bit of “I’m the Man” were played.

Kudos must be given to bassist Frankie Bello and drummer Charlie Benante for appearing. Frankie and Charlie are related and Charlie’s mother passed away on February 4th.  If they didn’t appear it would be perfectly understandable but they did, a testament to how much they care about their fans. Our condolences go out to Charlie and his family.

Overall, a great show from two masters of metal.
