Chef Ron at AnQi Bistro sets the mood for Valentine’s Day this year with the aphrodisiac-infused gourmet menu. Voted “Best Valentine’s Day Destination” by ABC7 in Los Angeles, the five-course meal features aphrodisiac ingredients in every dish to stimulate your senses and set the mood for the evening.
Before the first course arrives, you and your Valentine both get a Shot of Aphrodisiac made with coconut mango purée, hibiscus liqueur, candied almonds and Thai basil. The mixture slowly coats your palate and awakens both taste and nasal senses.
The first course, Kumomoto oyster two ways comes raw in citron sake mignonette and crispy in shiso leaf. Both are hand-held items, so gently swallow the raw oyster, and spoon the crispy version in your mouth with the sauce it lays in. Great variance in flavor from fresh to marinated – if you don’t like oysters, you’ll be surprised by how much you enjoy this dish.
The second course, Lobster Ginger Ravioli in Truffle Almond Butter is delicate and bursting with flavor. Slowly savor the ravioli and allow the flavors to marry in your mouth.
The third course, Peking Style Crispy Quail, is rubbed in five Asian spices for a glorious fusion flavor. Served atop a bed of fresh arugula, mandarin champagne gastric, fennel and Asian pear, the third course sets a precedent for the main course.
Pan roasted Mongolian Filet Mignon steals the show in the fourth course with twice-cooked crispy potatoes, asparagus, sweet garlic and black raspberry shitake sauce. The meat, so tender and delicate, gently melts in your mouth and balances the vegetables in flavor –a perfect bite every time. The entrée is a dish to mindfully savor and enjoy.
Chef Ron makes the grand finale with a choice of Decadent Triple Chocolate Parfait with Brûlée Banana or Honey Vanilla Panna Cotta with Hidden Passion Fruit Gelée. The desserts vary greatly in taste, the parfait being rich and smooth in chocolate and peanut butter flavor, and the panna cotta being tart and cool on the palate. Both make a great finish to the meal, leaving you and your valentine swept off your feet.
