The 28th annual Women for Christ luncheon gave the attendees physical food and a great Spiritual banquet this week at the Prime Osborn Center; and Angela Thomas prepared the table. The Women for Christ is a group of ladies who want to provide the Jacksonville, Florida community with the opportunity to hear outstanding Christian speakers, and they did not disappoint.
Angela Thomas was introduced by one of her mentors and fellow Women for Christ speakers, Pam Tebow. Angela won the attention of the group by talking about the funny intimate things from her personal life, especially her experience at a soccer game [should we sit here?]; her moving to a new town and her family.
One day a conversation began with her and the Lord about opening up to new friendships. She explained how a lack of interaction will alienate you from people & yes, even separate you from God. There may be times when we can overlook our neighbors & those people around us, until we realize that we have to take the first step in meeting people, nonetheless at other times we can think that no one cares. God cares, and He sees everything that we go through.
In Genesis 16, God appears on the scene as an angel. God is El Roi (The God who sees). All of us could use the ‘help’ that other people offer to us every now and then. We never know who God will send to us in our time of need.
Sometimes you’ve got to ‘spit on the devil’ and refuse to allow mishaps to come into our lives and overtake us. We don’t always have a close relationship with the God that we serve. Sometimes we go through the rituals of our servanthood and we just “do it”. God continues to wait for us to acknowledge Him as our true Redeemer. God will forgive us from our sins and He forgets about all our discretions. He also sends us God the Holy Spirit, who will be with us to comfort, love, advise & protect us.
Angela did a marvelous “in your seat” alter call for salvation, and those who may have backslidden. In order to really appreciate these marvelous times, you need to contact “Women for Christ” and attend the event next year. Allow the Son to Shine in your life.
