Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Ah, Anchorman, the little cult classic that finally got a sequel. And it's a great sequel. It's as funny as the first one and also contains some nods to the original.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues movie poster.
Paramount Pictures

In Anchorman 2 Ron Burgundy has fallen on hard times. He's hosting the dolphin show at Sea World where he gets the call to come to New York and become an Anchor for GNN. He assembles the news team and heads off.

This movie could have been just more of the same and to a slight extent it is, but for every similar joke there are three new ones. It's more of the crude, juvenile humor that we expect from Anchorman yet there are a few actual heartfelt moments. It's basically about Burgundy redeeming himself. But of course his redemption comes at the expense of everyone else.

The cast is phenomenal. From the returning members to the cameos they all bring their A-game. And it was fun to see what had happened to the news team after Ron left to go to the network. It's funny and stupid at the same time. What more could you ask for.

Will Ferrell is a comic genius whose alter ego will leave you in stitches. And I loved the Steve Carell/Kristin Wiig love story. David Koechner is so funny as the alcoholic racist Champ Kind, and Paul Rudd as former newsman turned kitten photographer Brian Fantana is deserving of his own spin-off.

This movie is fantastic. It is not just funny but side-splitting funny. You will laugh until it hurts and want to watch it again. It's that good. Five Stars.

I have added a link to the film's website here. A link to where you can buy a copy on Amazon here and a link where you can buy the Steelbook Walmart edition here. Also a link to the film's content advisory page here.

Stay classy.
