Because they already have it on their buffet, and will until February 18th, I recently sampled it. It is great for those who like it hot. I like dishes with a little kick but not scorching hot. This particular dish pushes my limits so those who love spicy hot dishes should love it. It struck me as having a different kind of heat from jalapenos. I noticed it more towards the back of my mouth as opposed to wiping out my taste buds.
Firecracker Chicken Breast as a Wok-Smart™ dish
Panda Inn describes their Firecracker Chicken Breast as a Wok-Smart™ dish consisting of marinated, all-white meat chicken breast, sweet red and yellow bell peppers, and crisp onions. They toss these together in a sizzling hot wok with spicy black bean sauce to create a one-of-a-kind taste that has fewer than 250 calories.
Panda Express Family Feast
Chinese culture puts great value on families dining together, especially on the Chinese New Year, their biggest holiday. Thus, it’s appropriate that you can add Firecracker Chicken Breast as one of your menu options in your Panda Express’ Family Feast. This selection contains three large entrées and two large side dishes. It’s just right for bringing home so the whole family can enjoy it together.
Andy Kao, Panda Express Executive Chef, explains role of Firecracker Chicken Breast
You may have noticed that Chinese culture has a different astrological system from that which European-based societies use; for instance, this New Year is the Year of the Horse. Certain foods represent different things. For example, Andy Kao, Panda Express Executive Chef, pointed out that “Symbolically, Panda’s bold Firecracker Chicken Breast is a fitting entree to ring in the Year of the Horse because chicken symbolizes prosperity and joy, two unique attributes associated with the horse zodiac sign.”
Lunar Year celebration
The new moon marks the beginning of the Lunar Year so the Chinese 15-day celebration for “The Year of the Horse” starts on January 31st. According to tradition, families include absent family members by setting a place at the table for them so they can at least benefit from the symbolic dishes. Another part of the Chinese New Year celebration includes exchanging red envelopes filled with money between friends and family. Because the color red symbolizes good luck, they use red envelopes. The characteristics attributed to people born in the year of the horse are that they will be great communicators, cheerful, perceptive and often stubborn.

I wanted to add a slide show to this article so I visited our local Panda Express in Covina, California. I explained to Suryati, the training leader, how I write restaurant reviews and would be publishing this press release. She then gave me two free dinners. While we enjoyed these dinners, my positive comments are based on the fact that Dorothy and I like Panda Express’ food and the local staff. In fact, I typically get two takeout dinners with three entrées each for Dorothy and me every other week.
