Last night Rick Springfield gave an unusual performance at the Wyly Theater in the Dallas Arts District. Entitled Rick Springfield Stripped Down: An Intimate solo performance of music & storytelling, that is exactly what it was. Rick Springfield, accompanied by "eight more recorded Rick Springfields", put on a memorable show playing old favorites along with songs that were never played in public before and songs from his new CD "Songs for the End of the World", then recounting personal stories from his teen years forward. A few of the songs heard last night were Jessie's Girl, Don't Talk To Strangers, I've Done Everything For You , My Father's Chair, and An Affair of the Heart. After that portion of the show, Rick returned to the stage for an extensive question and answer session, taking questions randomly from the audience.
If you missed last night's performance, all is not lost. There will be another show tonight at 8 p.m. at the Wyly Theater, located in the downtown Arts District at 2400 Flora Street, with tickets starting out at $50. There is not a bad seat in the house at this venue, so get your ticket now, and prepare yourself for a rare treat.
