The farmer gives the animals a special meal of hot bran mash with chopped apples and brown sugar. Otis enjoys watching his friends enjoy their delicious dinner. And Otis receives his first Christmas present ever -- a horn like the one on the truck.
But in the middle of the night, the horse who has been expecting a foal begins to deliver, and things are not going well. Long manages the dangerous delivery with minimal detail. Otis hears the farmer saying, "We need Doc Baker out here tonight or we'll lose 'em both!"
The truck goes for help, but because it's been snowing hard, it gets stuck at the bottom of the hill. Otis realizes that he's the only hope.
It's a heartwarming story and perfect for the holiday time. Children will enjoy reading about the little tractor who has gained a huge following.
