On April 30, 2014, Los Angeles welcomed and received Boy George in concert for the first time in a long time. The Mayan Theater, located in Downtown LA had lines going around the block with fans, some adorned in Boy George Style make up and some in costume, just waiting for the doors to open which still had a two hour wait until he and his ensemble made it on stage at promptly 9:30 p.m.
While Boy George's performance was a solo act, he came with a back up singer, four horn players, a bass and a guitar player and a drummer, making for a full on musical performance. Songs in the performance included some of his own songs, 'Live Your Life' and 'Nice and Slow,' a few featured covers, such as Lou Reed's Satellite and George Harrison's 'Any Road' with of course, the expected Culture Club famous hits, 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me' and 'Karma Chameleon.'
The quick national tour, hitting major cities, completed in Los Angeles to promote his newest solo studio album in nearly 20 years, 'This is What I Do,' released on March 25, 2014. While, it has been a long time since he has created an album, he still remained on the music circuit with DJ gigs.
All future dates are available on his website and Facebook page.
