How does a Fashionista deal with this crazy weather? Is it cold outside? Is it hot today? Before we go and start blaming global warming for putting a hold on our 40 denier Wolfords, let’s deal with the Indian summer, which still bring…bugs. (Oh, so not fashionable.)
Some of us attract bugs like we are walking UV lights hypnotizing them to come hither. We’ll try anything to make them GO AWAY. So, when we got wind of Aromaflage, a natural, botanical way to repel those stubborn nuisances, we wanted to get our hands on a bottle NOW. For starters, this is not your typical can of Raid. It arrives in a custom-designed glass bottle decorated in 24 kt gold ink. (Clearly, this is not for Wal-Mart shoppers, indeed - not that there is anything wrong with that…) It also has a travel pouch – just in case you jet off to St. Barts and say DON’T screw the bottle tightly (you KNOW who you are). The formula also contains Vitamin E. Anti-oxidants in my bug repellant? Yes, please.
The secret weapon? According to the creators, Mikey and Momo, essential oils from Asia are used to both make up the fragrance and ward off flying critters.
The verdict? It’s described to have vanilla/citrus notes with a woodsy undertone. Vanilla, yes. Citrus and woodsy? Well, as one tester describes, it’s a tiny bit like Carmex. But, hey, we actually like the smell of Carmex. We will take that over sharp chemical poisonous undertones any day. The smell is actually pleasant and so far, no bites. Clearly, it’s not the hot summer bug-fest at the moment – but we figured we would rather not try to test this near a big trash-filled dump. Regardless, it’s a keeper for our next warm weekend or jaunty get-away to the Hamptons. Or let’s get real, tomorrow when it’s 70 degrees (wah – wahhhhh….)
Who ever thought bug-be-gone could be chic?
Happy sampling, Fashionistas!
