American Tomahawk: 'So So Slowly, the History of a Perfect Spiral' (2013)

"So So Slowly, the History of a Perfect Spiral" by American Tomahawk is a very honest and confessional Indie Rock / Dream Americana album.

The second track (entitled: 'Happiness') is a very relatable lament to the artists life. The singer struggles to find happiness but just feels like he's wasting his time and can't find anything on his travels doing music to help him feel better about his course in life... as this song unfolds the album title begins to take on a clearer meaning.

Production-wise the vocals are typically clearer than what would be considered "Dream Pop", but the production is often ambient and dreamy, with wet guitar picking within ethereal backdrops.

The vocals are also of note, as they are a tad uncommon, and very deep... making the record sound in some parts (such as in the track "Results") like "The National".

Altogether lyrically and in production everything this record is is top notch and enjoyable.
