Let's face it; being single on Valentine's Day sucks. No matter where you go or what you browse online, Valentine's Day stares you in the face somehow.

Well, in honor of all the single people, 98.7 AMP Radio held its first Bitter Ball on Valentine's Day this year at The Crofoot Ballroom, an event featuring alt rock/pop band American Authors.

There were definitely couples scattered among the crowd (hey, a concert is a great Valentine's date) but the majority of The Crofoot crowd consisted of singles just out to have a great time.

And wow, let's cut to the end of the night really quickly here; the guys were completely flocked with fans (mostly female) after the show. I've seen the band before and observed how, like any other band with a good following, fans flock to them when they come out to meet people; but this was a different, almost more aggressive crowd!

So back to the show; the room was full and the sound of the show overpowered any lonely feelings that seemed to linger. Singer Zac Barnett has such a passionate and true voice that encouraged everyone to sing along, especially to the popular single "Best Day Of My Life."

The band has a full-length album coming out on March 4th entitled Oh, What A Life on Island Records. It's sure to be a really great album!

American Authors is going on tour with The Script and OneRepublic this May/June and also playing a few dates with Wild Cub in March/April. Big things are in store for this band so keep an eye (and ear) out!
