With New Year’s Eve a few days away it is time to pick the bubbly to toast with at midnight. While French Champagne is the toasting wine of choice, plenty of other options are available. For an Italian themed New Year’s evening there are plenty of Italian sparklers made in the Metodo Classico, using secondary fermentation in the bottle the same way Champagne is produced.
Ambo Secco, Blanc De Blanc, Brut is produced in Italy’s northern region of Lombardy. Just like traditional Blanc de Blanc the Ambo Secco is made with 100% chardonnay. The juice is also aged on the skins for 18 months that adds a rounded flavor and nuttiness to the wine. Ambo Secco is pale straw yellow with small lively bubbles rising to the top. The nose is full of citrus, especially lemon, and hazelnuts.
The palate tingles with the bubbles and has some yeasty notes and lemon with some peach and pear.
So this year have an Italian themed New Year’s Eve party, great food and Ambo Secco, Blanc de Blanc, Brut to ring in the New Year!
