One listen to Amatus, and you'll be hooked. An enchanting music experience, her EP, Broken Compass, blends a variety of sounds and artistic compositions that it is difficult to classify her sound as anything but unique.
"Coming Home," the opener offers a pop/R&B feeling that is emotionally charged as Amatus' vocals glide across the speakers. "Messin," is an indie-electronic combo, that allows Amatus to to show off what she can do vocally, while "Run Fast" provides a crisp and hard hitting up-tempo alternative vibe. On "Punk," Amatus feels to be most at home with this type of production. A beguiling and mellowed orchestration. Her vocals simmer within the beat and make for a magical journey that is fresh and vivacious. The finale "Cherish," is equally pleasing and perhaps the best song on the EP.
It is clear that Amatus is bent on making a mark in the music industry and in the eyes of music fanatics. The debut is effortlessly crafted and gives the definite statement that Amatus understands what she can do vocally and takes her artistry seriously. Broken Compass is one of those EP's that has to be taken in slowly to comprehend the artist's message, but once it is - you get a definitive understanding of how powerful and inspiring Amatus is as a writer and musician.
