Alois Lageder, Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige, Italy, 2012

Alois Lageder IV is the latest in a family committed to making high quality wines in Italy’s Alto Adige region. Since 1823 his family has been committed to producing high quality wines at the Alois Lageder winery. The winery is farmed with biodynamic principals, positioning vines in specific plots on the winery and planting and harvesting according to a lunar calendar among other aspects of biodynamic farming. This respect for the land has resulted in some great wines coming from this historic winery.
Alois Lageder, Pinot Grigio, 2012 is pale straw yellow. The nose is filled with aromas of lemon, hay, fresh cut grass, and minerals. The palate is filled with citrusy lemon-lime with wet slate and wild flowers. The short finish is balance with a pleasant tart acidity.
Enjoy this wine with light cheeses and salumi before dinner. Then serve it with white fish and light chicken preparations with a citrus marinate or even a light cream sauce.
