You may know Caribbean Joe as that fun, tropical-inspired men & women's clothing line boasting bright turquoise hues and cargo shorts. But many don't know their outdoorsy brand philosophy ventured into organic, all-natural skincare.
Caribbean Joe offers body, face, and hair care products enriched with natural oils, vitamins, and ingredients inspired by fruits and plants found in . . . you guessed it . . . the Caribbean islands. Recently, I had an opportunity to try the line, and I want to share my pleasant findings with you.
Let’s start with the hair products. The shampoo and conditioner for normal to fine hair smelled like a passion fruit dream and lathered beautifully. I’m the type of person who wants to spend as little time as possible grooming hair, and I have always had a problem with tangles because my hair is extremely fine. I was able to brush through the entire length with little resistance, so I couldn’t ask for more from these hair products!
Body products: I sampled the body lotion, body butter, hand cream, and peeling soap. The star of the bunch is definitely the body butter. It’s mind-blowingly moisturizing and really helped to calm my itchy and irritated winter skin. No more than five minutes after I applied a layer of this stuff, I stopped clawing at my arms. No cortisone needed here! A little trick is to, at night, apply the body lotion as a base and use the butter on top. You won’t need anything in the morning! I also enjoyed using the peeling soap to shave (P.S. don’t be put off by the name – “peeling” sounds scary but this is merely an exfoliator). I used the shower gel right after to add a little of moisture back after the shave.
Face products: I tried the foamy cleansing wash, purifying mask, eye gel, day and night moisturizers, and serum. Especially geared toward normal to combination skin, these bottles are filled with soothing ingredients like natural oils and Shea butter. It’s quite noticeable, too! Touching my face after using the cleanser + Clarisonic was oh so delightful – you forget your skin has the potential of being so soft when you’re using cleansers that are filled with harsh, drying chemicals. I loved how foamy this cleanser got; it stayed foamy throughout the entire Clarisonic cleansing and prepped my skin for the mask. The standout factor for the mask was that I only needed to keep it on for 2-3 minutes. Though I like pampering myself, if I can get the job done with minimal effort, I’m all for it!
The moisturizers hydrate the skin nicely and prep for ideal makeup application. A moisturizer is completely necessary in a skincare routine so I was happy to try a new brand and notice the differences. They are all very light in texture and don’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin. Along with the night serum, I’m going to continue using these together and keep you updated if they do anything dramatic in long-term moisturization of my skin. I don’t want to jump right in and say “they’re amazing!” if I’m reviewing in terms of continuing effect.
The eye gel was a very wet consistency. It looked shiny and took several minutes to dry but when it did, I enjoyed how hydrated my undereye area felt. I also loved the bottle – it came with a pump! Other companies need to take note; it seems like such a trivial thing but it is so extremely necessary to make products as sanitary as possible.
All in all, I really enjoyed using this line and will continue to do so as they have been quite the relief this cold winter season. I feel great about the products I’m using because they are organic and natural, and I love how Caribbean Joe‘s philosophy on nature and island spirit transcends into their skincare!
