Children of all ages and their parents are encouraged to boo, cheer, laugh, clap and have big fun at “Aladdin and his Winter Wish” through December 29, 2013. Sure to be an enduring family tradition the second annual Panto at the Pasadena Playhouse opened to an appreciative packed house on Wednesday, December 11.
Extremely talented young singer/dancer/actors Jordan Fisher in the title role and Ashley Argota as The Princess lead a delightful cast including the always funny Bruce Vilanch as Aladdin’s mother Widow Twankey and Ben Giroux as his brother Wishee Washee. Richard Karn makes a suitable Sultan. Josh Adamson gives audience members ample opportunity to hiss as Abanazar. And special guest star, Ben Vereen, proves he can still “bring it on” in the role of Genie, making the stage a little brighter with each of his entrances.
Produced by Lythgoe Family the show was written by Kris Lythgoe and deftly directed by Bonnie Lythgoe. Kudos to Michael Orland for wearing three hats as musical director, arranger and keyboardist and Spencer Liff for his choreography.
Giving nothing away, there is a magical scene and number in this show that alone is worth the price of admission!
More than just a terrific theatrical evening, the entertainment includes a winter wonderland (as close as Southern California can get) in the courtyard.
Make family holiday memories bright this year with Pasadena Playhouse’s thoroughly enjoyable, interactive and unique “Aladdin and his Winter Wish.”
