It is good when you get a recommendation about an artist, album or a concert event. It is even better when that recommendation turns into something memorable and fun. That is what the album Airborne 25th Anniversary Silver Skies is. The CD blends music from different styles including fusion, Latin jazz and R&B that appeals to those of us who love this music. The disc includes 12 songs produced by Greg Borino and Thomas Borino.
The musicians on this project include: Greg Borino on electric and acoustic guitars and bass, Thomas Sansone on sax, flute and vocals, Dave Ramsey on drums, Steve Clarke on bass, Asher Delerme on African and Latin percussion, Randy Bost on trumpet and flugelhorn, Herb Wilson on sax, Olivia Malin on trumpet, Jim Messbauer on trombone and Elizabeth Dellinger on vocals. She soulfully sings on the track City Spirits. If you like salsa then the song Salsa Jazz is for you. If you like a little fusion then the song Fusion Flight 55 might just be for you.
I can say that all of the songs on the album are good songs. The standout songs to me are Cuban Style, Funky Tuesday, Alexander's Dream, City Spirits, Sunshower and Time Machine. This group has been making music for a long time and they still have it. The music is fresh and contemporary and yet it draws from music styles of the past. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking the Airborne voyage into the Silver Skies. If you want to get information on this project, you can follow the group's website: www.airbornejazz.com.
