The best place to go salsa dancing on Wednesday nights in San Jose is the Agenda Lounge. Located in the heart of downtown San Jose, the Agenda Lounge is one of the longest running and most popular dancing spot in the Bay Area.
Agenda is an unassuming two-story brick building in San Jose, but on Wednesday nights it transforms into a happening salsa club. On most nights the dancing happens on the dance floor on the second floor, but on night with big events and live bands, they will open up the floor downstairs as well.
If you come early enough, the first floor of Agenda is a restaurant with great food, appetizers, and drinks. Later in the evening they stop serving food, but drinks are served all night, and are quite affordable for those who like to drink and dance.
Agenda has a decent sized dance floor, but the place gets packed, so you'll have to be mindful of the other dancers or you might get bumped or stepped on. The better dancers tend to stay in one corner of the floor, and show up later when the floor starts to clear up a little.
Agenda does have its share of drunken club goers who just want to drink and party, but plenty of dancers show up as well, so you will have plenty of people to dance with.
The Agenda Lounge used to be a lot more popular back in the day before they started El Valenciano in the City, when all the best dancers used to come all the way from San Francisco to dance. That doesn't happen as much anymore, but Agenda is still one of the best places to get your dance on in the South Bay.
At just $5 cover ($10 when there's a live band) Agenda is a great deal and an affordable way to have a good night of dancing. Bottom line, the Agenda Lounge is one of the best places to grab a drink and go salsa dancing in San Jose.
