On the corner of South Kirkman Road and Conroy Road, just a few blocks west of the Universal Orlando Resort, lies the slightly hard to find jewel of a restaurant known as Agave Azul. Once you have been there, however, the location in the corner of an indescript shopping center will be ingrained in your psyche forever.
If you're fond of Mexican food, then this is definitely the place for you. Agave Azul is fast becoming one of Orlando’s most popular Mexican restaurants, and for good reason. Known for satiating the appetite of those looking to taste the authentic spices from the country, this amazing eatery offers a diverse menu of the finest Mexican dishes this side of the Rio Grande.
There are several dishes on their menu prepared in a traditional way but with a contemporary feel. Nachos, Fresh Seafood and Fajitas are the highlight of their menu, but you can't go wrong with any of the offerings. The salsa is not too spicy, but not overly mild. The queso blanco is to die for, and the combination platters have something that will please every palate.
They also have an eclectic bar featuring over 100 brands of tequila, as well as an extensive list of Margaritas and wine. The lime margarita is one of the greatest in the state of Florida, and provides just enough of a kick to let you know it's authentic, but not so much that you won't be able to find your car after dinner.
The desserts are also quite delectable, and the fried cheese cake is a must try.
The restaurant is under new management, and the staff is very attentive to your needs. With coupons available in many of the local discount books, you might be able to get an even better deal that some of the other competitors in the area.
If you're in the mood for an amazing night of Mexican food, and can pull yourself away from the draw of Universal Citywalk and Epcot, give Agave Azul a try. You'll be glad you did.
