Many of you know that I have been in a wheelchair for several years. And while I am able to maneuver practically anywhere I would like to go I needed the ability to get myself and my powerchair from place to place. It is not as simple as picking up the chair and loading it in the back of an SUV or Van. They weigh a lot and if you were able to do so you could not do it by yourself as you still need a way to get to the driver’s seat.
So with all this in mind I sought out to find the solution. And the Solution is Advanced Mobility Systems right here in Fort Worth. They have the technology and know-how to solve any mobility needs. They have conversion vans for sale or if you already have one, they can repair it if something goes wrong.
But if you already have a ride and your needs have just arisen so that you need mobility assistance but want to stay with your present vehicle. Take it to them and let their team of experts design a way for you to become mobile again.
If you have a pickup they will place a lift in the bed and if you want something to keep everything dry or out of the hot Texas sun, they will place a hydraulically lifted camper top on it. If you have a van and you need it converted then they can do it. You got a Prius and can’t figure out how it will work, I bet they could come up with a ramp in the hatchback and allow you to drive right in and up to the driver’s seat without a hesitation.
Is there a down side? Like everything else it is cost. Nothing today is cheap. But let’s put it this way what is it worth to have your own means of transportation and independence? To those who can’t get around or if you have loved ones who have a mobility issue you understand what it is worth. What you probably want to check out is what Medicare or Medicaid will assist you with. Then check out other agencies and foundations that can help. Disability and Rehabilitation Services (DARS) is one I would recommend looking into if you are still working. But don’t let the cost run you off.
Plus, if you were a golfer and you now have a mobility issue they have the answer in what is called SoloRider. It is a golf cart to get you back out on the course and enjoy the game you love. With this cart to able to tee off and go anywhere on the course - evn right onto the green without leaving a mark or a wheel print at all.
