Not long ago it was revealed that Producer David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, The Practice, Ally McBeal) will undertake a television series featuring DC Comic's Wonder Woman. The series is not only currently in production but Entertainment Weekly has released a photo of the show's star, Adrianne Palicki, in the infamous red, gold and blue. It's not as revealing as the bloomers and chesty top seen in the comics (as well as the series starting Lynda Carter in the 70's) but it's still on par for the character's persona while giving guys plenty to look at. Even though Wonder Woman, considered one of DC Comic's "Big Three" (along with Batman and Superman), has been dressed in some variation of this design since her inception, people should remember that her Amazonian origins are from Greek mythology. Any variation of the red, gold and blue has nothing to do with Greek mythology or the Amazons. Her costume represents more of an American motif and ideal (red, white (stars) and blue).
There's no need to get too deep into the character's origin but it's an interesting story as the creator was one William Moulton Marston, the inventor of the polygraph (lie detector), in 1941 and often portrayed his character as somewhat of a dominatrix tied up at least once every issue. The character evolved greatly since the 40's and is now one of virtue, strength and honor despite her gender, yet still all woman.
What do you think of the costume and let us know what you want or expect from this new series.
