Hidden in a corner of Venice, California sits a little Italian gem of a restaurant. Like any good diamond, it knows how to hide. Driving along, your eye travels back and forth across the road, seeking a sign, an awning, anything to indicate that you are close, and on the right path. Just as you begin to think that you may have mistaken a rock for a diamond in the rough, you pull into a miniscule valet lot.
You have arrived.
What lies ahead of you is Ado Ristorante, hidden in a little yellow house on Main Street. You can’t even see the door because it appears everyone has found this little spot ahead of you. But reservations were made, and now they are being honored. You sneak past the hungry throngs of huddled diners and enter a warm little Italian oasis. Suddenly Venice, California melts away and you find yourself drinking and eating true pieces of Italy. The restaurant is dimly lit and candles illuminate the space - just the right atmosphere for a diamond to truly shine.
Warm, gooey burrata with it’s friend prosciutto, crab salad, and mushroom polenta are enjoyed until every last morsel has been taken. The Amarone flows and Italian wine has never tasted so full, or delectable. Entrees arrive. Home made spaghetti with Japanese eggplant and basil pesto, ravioli filled to the brim with beef tenderloin and black kale, sea bass on a bed of onions and finished with mint…all are savored. The jewel is now fully exposed and all notice its brilliance. This restaurant is known, and will takes it’s place as one of the fine Italian eateries that the Westside of Los Angeles has to offer.
Diamonds are forever after all.
