"I don't think it is difficult for women to convey what we think is repulsive about men that can only act through violent sexual attacks" said Actress, Model and Activist Diana Laura about her latest project, the film Repulsive. "Those men actually believe women enjoy being treated that way, and it is just one of many ways people misunderstand women".
Diana Laura knows a lot about how women should be recognized for their tireless work in creating a better world. After all, she is the creator of the WITAM award: Women In The Arts Miami, a yearly event that celebrates the influence of the female gaze in all aspects of the arts and entertainment in South Florida. She is also a well known model with engagements in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, and has been very busy since last year in different films.
"This particular project really hits close to home" she admits.
The film is shooting on location in Hollywood, FL and it stars, apart from Diana Laura, Donnie Kent, Thomas Falborn, Neffer Rojas, Izzy Martinez, Mark Kroczynski, Mitchellangelo Lemos and Jeanny Arreaza.
"It's been a slow and complex project to finally get to work in this film. I have had several rehearsals with my acting Coach, famed filmmaker Ika Santamaria, and I'm ready to be Alexandria, this wonderful character created by my director. I've always liked strong women. One of my heroes and role models is Sofia Loren, precisely because of her strength and how she managed to evolve in show business, becoming an Icon for generations. In this film Alexandria has a little bit of Loren and of other women I know. And she also has a little bit of me. We all have passed through good and bad, and in the bad it is best not to consider ourselves as victims because life goes on. I think that's pretty much what this film is about and why I accepted this challenge".
