Actors’ Playhouse Production Of Hairspray The Musical Is Ultra Terrific

Actors’ Playhouse entertaining Cast of Hairspray includes Floirda's "A List" of Actors with best performances in the show given by Artistic Director David Arisco as (Edna Turnblad),  Avi Hoffman as Edna's corky husband (Wilbur Turnblad), Sally Bondi's dead on performance of the prude racist Mother (Prudy Pingleton) and other top notch performances of (Gym Teacher), (Jailhouse Matron), Avery Sommers sings the show stopping number " I know Where I've been" as (Motormouth Maybelle).

Joline Mujica (Tracy Turnblad) wins the audience over at the start of the show with "Good Morning Baltimore".  Her love interest Link Larkin played by handsome Matthew Ragas gives a wonderful performance vocally and physically.  Matthew was in the national tour and is definitely an audience favorite.

Julie Kleiner gives a perfect geeky friend performance as (Penny Pingelton), Ronald Duncan as Penny's love interest has powerful energy in his dancing but vocally a bit weak (Seaweed J. Stubbs), Christopher A. Kent host well as (Corny Collins),  Celia Louise Merendi is the perfect spoiled (Amber Von Tussle), Kim Cozort plays well as Amber's stage Mother (Velma Von Tussle), (The Dynamites) - Talitha Farrow, Renata Eastlick and Tatianna Mott got applause for their beautiful costumes, sound and looks.  The Supremes would be proud of these ladies performing vocal harmonies and dancing as (The Dynamites).

All of the ensemble were energetic and brought excitment to the group numbers.  Shain Stroff as the all american boy and stand out ensemble performance as (Brad), Nikki Allred (Tammy), Michael Joseph (Fender), Nicolette Violet Sweeny (Brenda), Jose Luaces (IQ), Leslie McQueen (Lou Ann),  Michael Freshko plays a variety of roles well (Harrison F. Spritzer) (Principle) (Mr. Pinky), Asher Makeba vocals sound great as (Little Inez), Renata Eastlick (Lorraine), Ivore Rousell (Duane),  Walter Kemp II (Gilbert) and a Florida familiar favorite face Marcus Davis as (Thad).

Hairspray Book by Thomas Meehan, Music/Lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.  The integration of story, script and production team work well with Choreography by Barbara Flaten, Musical Director by David Nagy, "You Can’t Stop the Beat" at Actors Playhouse because the Hairspray sets are colorful and creative by award winning Sean McClelland, Light Designer Patrick Tennent lights up the stage, time appropriate costumes by Ellis Tillman and Sound Design by Alexander Herrin, Technical Director Gene Seyffer and Production Manager Carlos Correa.
