Indie quartet, A Silent Film, slipped quietly into Chicago, on tour showcasing their newest release, 'Sand & Snow'(2012), delivering a truly expansive sound their fan base has come to love. The vocal and musical prowess of dramatic lead singer, Robert Stevenson, along with the bands intensity and multi-layered, colorful sound provide an electricity that keeps you elevated for days.
A Silent Film's performance, full of lyrical grandeur and spirited anthems has attracted the attention of radio stations as well as alternative music aficionados. The album is filled with relatable songs~ poetic stories depicting love, hopes, dreams, and losses of which I am sure come from the journeys this band has been on from it's humble start in 2005 in Oxford, England.
Upon settling in America, the band signed with Beiler Brothers Records where they released their equally dynamic and moving debut album, "The City that Sleeps", (US edition) in 2010. The success of this album set afoot a series of opportunities for the band to open for similar rising stars such as Civil Twilight, One Republic, and Sleigh Bells.
With some success under their belt and becoming acquainted with the the highways and byways of Americana, the band signed on with Creative Media Investments, LLC. Shortly after the band relocated to Arizona, making a unique, purposeful choice to self-produce the current album at a recording retreat in the desert. The band used the inspirationally unique landscape and spirit of the area, capturing the complexities of it's harshness and beauty to enhance the emotive feel of the tracks. A Silent Film's "Sand & Snow" (2012) is a touching, dramatic symphony of characters and stories that cultivates the imagination. The kind of music that you just want to sit down inside, breathe it in, and live there ... forever...
