A review of "Kid Tips for Walt Disney World"

In a previous article on how to start planning a trip to Walt Disney World, I talked about different planning guides you can use to help you plan your trips.  There are many different guides and books about Walt Disney World, each written with a different focus in mind.  I love to read the different books as I always I learn things about the park I did not know before.  I had an opportunity to read a new Walt Disney World guidebook that had great tips and a very unique slant.  The book is titled “Kid Tips for Walt Disney World”, and what makes it unique is the tips are from children from ages 7 to 15.

Tracie A Cook is the author of “Kids Tips for Walt Disney World”.  She was working on another Walt Disney World book that focused on the park as an educational recourse.  She had posted a request on a Disney Forum for tips from children.  In the course of 2 weeks, she received over 8000 submissions from children of different ages.  Cook husband convinced her not to let that wealth of information go to waste and so “Kid Tips for Walt Disney World: Touring advice by Kids for Kids” was written.

The book is very interesting and informative.  It is broken up in sections for each different park and offers general tips on the parks and specific tips for each different attraction at Walt Disney World.  As a father of two children myself, it helped to give me a view of the park from a child’s perspective, and helped me see what they see.  This in turn will help me plan a better trip for my family.  My favorite tip was from “James age 10 from Burlington, NJ” who said, “Drink Soda from around the world.  Don’t miss Club Cool.  You get to drink free soda from around the world.  Trick your parents into drinking Beverly – it’s awful!”

The book is easy to follow and read, so many children can refer to this book to help plan their Disney trip to the park.  Another part of the book that I felt was very helpful was the Trip Planning section at the end of the book.  It provides a list of questions for children to think about that will help them plan what they want to do during their trip to Walt Disney World.

This book is a first of many as she plans to update Kid Tips for Walt Disney World, and create tips books for Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and also Walt Disney World Adventure.  If you have or know a Disney park veteran between the ages of 7-15, Cook is still looking for great tips on the parks.  With a parent’s permission they can visit Vacation Field Guide (www.vacationfieldguide.com) and take a survey there.  Their tip may be in the next book and help someone else plan their magical trip to Walt Disney World.

“Kids Tips for Walt Disney World” can be purchased at Amazon or on Barnes & Noble websites for $7.88.  I enjoyed the book and found many great tips for experience the park.  Some of them I am looking forward to do on my next trip.  This is a great book for a family trip to Walt Disney World and I am looking forward to reading her next books.
