After completing school to become a massage therapist I have now become addicted to receiving massages. It is the best way to relax and rid the body of extra kinks in the neck. I attended massage school at Soma Institute located downtown Chicago. I would take the Metra train to classes. As an alumnus, I am able to receive free massages for the rest of my life. I do plan to take advantage of this perk, but sometimes I would like to run and get a nice massage right in my own area. I subscribed to Groupon and learned about a great deal where I could get a “Melt away massage and detox bath” and the day spa was located right in my area. I grabbed the deal when I saw it on Groupon so I could treat myself.
It was only a 15-minute to drive away, located on Cicero and 152th, in Oak Forest, Illinois. I saw a few other day spas as I drove to my appointment, but when I found Sense of Serenity Day Spa I was satisfied with the choice I made. It was a cute little building with available parking. When I entered it looked larger from the inside. It was very cozy, almost like entering someone’s living room. The receptionist was very professional and friendly. They were very timely and I wasn’t left waiting a long time for my massage to begin. The therapist led me to the room for my “melt away treatment.” I wanted a massage concentrating on my shoulders and neck. I informed the therapist I needed attention on my upper traps. The room itself was sooooo cozy, dimly lit with pleasant smelling candles burning around the massage table and relaxing music playing. It was decorated so nicely. I learned the “melt away” massage is a treatment that concentrates just on the upper and lower back, shoulders and neck, which was just what I needed. I sit in front of a computer for long periods and it causes a tight neck and shoulder muscles from being hunched over the keyboard. She even added hot towels to my back and neck. I loved it. I asked the therapist how she liked being a massage therapist and she said she loved it. Knowing that seem to make me enjoy my treatment more understanding I was with a therapist who loves her work and I plan to request Brandi again when I return. The spa had a long list of various treatments that I plan to come back and try.
After my massage was over I went to the front where other women were receiving pedicures and I sat in one of the most comfortable chairs I ever sat in. It was a Sharper Image massage chair that completed what the “melt away” treatment started. This chair felt really good as it massaged my upper and lower back and shoulders. It was awesome. April, the owner, set me up for my foot detox bath and gave me reading material to understand the color of the water as toxins are were drawn from my feet. I had read about these treatments before, but this was my first one. They talked about some of the benefits of the ionic foot detox such as one woman who got regular footbaths because she saw her acne diminished and her skin became clearer. One man found the footbaths helped him while he was trying to stop smoking and a woman found her chemo treatments were easier to deal with by having the detox footbaths. She didn’t feel as nauseated. I was thrilled to hear these testimonies. I plan to try and get regular footbaths. At the end of the foot detox she gave me some foot patches to apply at night that will continue to detox my system. She said I would find I sleep better with this treatment (which was true).
I also liked the way all the employees dressed casual. It made you feel like you were at your girlfriend’s house hanging out. As a woman with a dream to open my own spa one day I was inspired by Sense of Serenity Day Spa. I am glad to know about this cozy little spot close by. I highly recommend Sense of Serenity Day Spa. This spa also offers ear candling and specializes in permanent hair removal.
Call and make your appointment for massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and the foot detox and tell them you read about their spa in the Chicago Spa Treatments Examiner.
