It's hard to say if Spring is here to stay or not, seeing as the weather in the DMV has been anything but normal – 80 degree days and then snow/sleet showers. That won't stop many from busting out their grills and outdoor seating. And Spring is a great time to get fresh fish and pair with a nice Sauvignon Blanc.

Ferrari - Carano Fume Blanc is a wonderful white wine perfect for Spring sipping. Ferrari - Carano Vineyard has been producing wines since the 80's. With vineyards in Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Mendocinio Ridge/Anderson Valley and Napa Carneros, the grapes from these regions bring something special to the table. Each region has different soil and microclimates which means a Chardonnay from Alexander Valley will be different from the Chard from Dry Creek Valley. However, when blended together they produce something very special.

Ferrari - Carano Fume Blanc 2013 is a blend of 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes from a few of the vineyards owned by Ferrari - Carano, Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valley. The juice is fermented in both stainless steel barrels and Oak barrels. The outcome is white peach, lemon and orange blossom on the nose. Crisp and refreshing with a very nicely balanced acidity, so it's not like biting on a lemon. No pucker face after sipping this wine. Subtle lemon with grapefruit and peach linger on the palate.

Perfect pair with grilled Tilapia, Cod,Mahi Mahi or Shrimp. Nothing too heavy or rich, you don't want to over power the wine. Great sipping on it's own too!
