A grand dance with Lalo Rodriguez at the Conga Room

October 22, 2010 - Lalo Rodriguez left his “Devorame Otra Vez” (Devour me once again) for last.  That is the title of the hit most people remember Rodriguez from and that the audience kept on asking for last night during his concert at the Conga Room.  When the time came, along with the song’s racy lyrics Rodriguez threw in a few rather suggestive moves and even a set of push-ups on stage.

He had reason to feel good though as the venue was packed with Peruvians, Colombians, and Puerto Ricans like himself, and all sorts of other Salsa lovers who have followed Rodriguez’s career since the 1970s.

The singer, who has recorded with tropical music legends such as Machito y su Orquesta, was backed on stage by a group of Los Angeles musicians led by trombonist Guillermo Hewitt, who traveled to Los Angeles with Rodriguez.

This concert was part of a series of presentations at the Conga Room called El Gran Bailazo (The Grand Dance), which will welcome Salsa singer Domingo Quinonez on October 28 and Salsa group Spanish Harlem Orchestra on November 4.  Information about tickets for the upcoming concerts can be found at http://www.VidaSalsera.com
