Oct 11, 2010 - It was a typical 90 degrees California day last Saturday for the Pasadena Wine Festival at Arboretum. The chilled Sauvignon Blancs were a hit in the weather as the early comers began doing the rounds about the tasting tents. With the Ryan Cross Experience in the background, the water of the fountain creating a tune of its own, and plenty of wines to savor, the hours went by rather fast to welcome a cooler evening and hundreds of additional tasters. At times the tasting lines were 25 people deep, but an ounce of fine wine has a fabulous way to keep folks patient and smiling.
In the evening hours, what the breeze cooled off the Jose Espinoza and his Umbalaye Band heated up, and soon enough the fountain's perimeter became a happy dance floor. With such combination of factors, one can call this year's Pasadena Wine Festival nothing other than successful.
And why not say it? Hurray for the Sauvignon Blancs of California and the Merlots of France!
