Polar Golfer is a game where you play the game of golf in iced themed golf courses. The courses have glaciers around them and waterfalls. You have eight players to choose from: Polar Bear, Penguin, Walrus, Elf, Gopher, Moose, Fox, and Santa. The characters follow the theme from the North Pole. Each player has different attributes, like power, accuracy, putting, and flight; so playing each hole will be quite different depending on which player you play as. Only the Polar Bear is available when you first start the game; the other players are unlocked when you reach a certain number of points. As you play through each hole, there are power rings you can hit for extra points, speed boosts, and extra strokes. Some of the power rings are high, so it's better to use the player that has the highest flight to hit these power rings. In some areas, you can get through shortcuts to make it to the hole faster, but these areas are hard to land on. There are two modes to play in this game: stroke play and championship play. In stroke play, you play the game with regular rules with no powerups or bonuses. In championship play, you play the eighteen holes, and see what high score you can get; you can also hit power rings in this mode for special bonuses. The game has pretty good graphics; the water color is really authentic, and the glaciers do look like real glaciers. When you play as the Polar Bear, it's hard to get a really good score because he's not too good on putting. When you try to putt with him, the ball does not go in a straight line; instead, it always curves to either the right or left. The Polar Bear does have good flight, allowing you to hit alot of power rings. The Penguin has good power, but his putting is not that great either. The Walrus has great power and flight, but lacks in accuracy and putting ability. The rest of the characters are pretty interesting to use, and really fun to play with. This game is pretty fun, but the playability is pretty hard; it's hard to get a good score with the players because they don't putt that well, and the shots are not always accurate.
