A Dangerous Method is a tale of a period of history, intellectuals, affairs, experimentation, scandal.
"There's a bit of a man in every woman and here's a bit of a woman in every man."
Keira Knightley with Christopher Hampton again is a movie matchmaking win. Sabina Spielrein is mad, intelligent, hypersexual, sensual with a father complex and defecation issues. I feel that at times Knightley is overacting, but it is friggin Academy Awards time. Acting gets you awards so nominate her.
"That's what she said."
Jung describes her as "rather disorganized, emotionally generous and exceptionally idealistic."
Speaking of which, Michael Fassbender plays Carl Jung as calm, intelligent, despite talking with an erratic patient talking about taboo subjects. I question why Jung start his affair Just like Jane Eyre. Jung reacts very little being slashed across the face or that Sabina shows up again, but I guess it is because Jung is a stern disciplined character.despite coming up with such fantastical yet real ideas such as interpretations of dreams. Jung's tea is Freud's cigar.
Speaking of which, Freud's talk about enemies of psychoanalysis and hard work probably is what led to his Golden Globe nomination. It reminded me of Galileo and his opponents. Vincent Cassel being who Vincent Cassell normally portrays. Sleeping with patients, and dealing with pleasure would include none other than him.
Did people during Freud's time think about relationships over sex? Destruction of self during sex. Can doctors and patients not have sex? Can two people have sex and not be friends? Jung and Spielrein are also sort of colleagues as they are both psychoanalysts.
Fans of psychoanalysts might love to find this film on screen.
Do not bring your dad and mom to watch A Dangerous Method. Maybe bring your kid to learn and correct some things.
