Shopping for gifts for men can sometimes be a daunting task, especially when they have everything or you do not have oodles of cash to spend on whatever is trending in the tool or gadget world at the time. If you are looking to find a cheap gift that any man could use (if he so desires) that is not really advertised and perhaps he has never thought of trying, purchase him a new shaving kit.
No, I am not talking about a new electric razor or anything fancy like that. In fact, what I am referring to is super primitive. For ages, men have shaved with shaving soap and a brush…something maybe the man you are buying for has at one time experienced at the local barbershop. I’m not suggesting that you go all out with the colonial razorblades or anything like that (although you can if you wish), just find a set that you believe will suit his shaving needs and desires and then you have a well-thought out gift. He will wonder why he’s never tried it before!
Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set is a great starter kit which runs around 12 bucks (prices go up from there). It includes an attractive ceramic bowl, handmade shaving brush, and of course shaving soap. All the essentials to begin soap shaving are there minus the razor. Add a bit of water to the bar, whip it up with the brush into a nice lather, apply, and shave...it’s that easy. It does require a bit more effort and time over traditional shaving creams though.
You can also get a variety of soaps in different, pleasant yet non-overbearing scents, to complete the gift. Col. Conk’s Glycerine Shaving Soaps (about 5 bucks each) are excellent and are available in calm, soothing scents such as amber, almond, lime, and bay rum which contain avocado oil and vitamin E for the smoothest of shaves. Travel containers (around $6) are also available for purchase for on-the-go shaving needs, and if you purchase on Amazon, shipping is free with a $25 order for most of these items.
Of course, you can always spend more for these kits or additional supplies, however, if your recipient is new to this type of shaving (versus norml shaving cream out of a can) and ends up not liking it you will be out of some change.
