A chance to travel and try another regional favorite in Kentucky.....

KingFish Restaurant and dinner

If you have ever had the chance to travel to the great state of Kentucky, and make a stop in Louisville overnight to find a room and have dinner, you have probably heard of KingFish Restaurant.

KingFish has been around since 1948, serving some of the best seafood to Louisville.

On this examiner's recent trip, she and her mother had their chance on their last night in town to go and patronize this regional favorite in the evening. (even though it is actually over the bridge from downtown Louisville.) When we finally arrived to the restaurant, we had a small wait for a table in the dining room, but it was welcomed.

Once we were seated, we were greeted by our waitress Julie, who had a basket of 3 huge hush-puppies, and our drink orders promptly taken.

While we sat there and decided and sipped on tea, we had a chance to relax and enjoy the view of the river and watch the paddle boats go by, while munching on a hush puppy.

Upon making our decision for dinner, which we both decided on the Captains Combination which had whitefish, shrimp, scallop, and catfish strip.(which I think when we were there was actually a scrod strip instead.), was actually pretty good, we each had different sides to compliment our dishes though. The sides were just as yummy though. If you are not used to scrod, it will be a taste experience that you should have at least once in your life. The whitefish had a nice consistency and perfectly cooked. The scallops were perfectly cooked and tender, not the consistency of a rubber tire(which was excellent), the shrimp were just as succulent as could be. The menu is very extensive and sounded just as delicious as the dish we picked for our dinner.

In the end if you are looking for a great experience and a great bang for your buck, then KingFish on River Road in Louisville is the place for just two. or a party of 8 or more. (The staff was great, it was a bit on the cool side though inside, compared to the outdoors, so you might take a sweater with you. )
