July 4th weekend has come and gone, and predictably so, 'Transformers 3' ruled the box office. It won't come to anyone's surprise if they rule with movie goers for the next two or three weeks as well. There have been plenty of reviews on that and every other summer blockbuster to come out, so I thought I would offer up something a little different this week.
Like I said I was sitting in my little house in North Las Vegas, skipping all the long lines at the theater over the holiday and someone recommended that I see a short film called 'A Bitter Taste of Magic'. I am in support of all film makers and willing to give every kind of film a chance, so I said "sure, why not?" And to my surprise and delight I am happy that I saw this film.
'A Bitter Taste of Magic' follows a magician's fall from grace, and his quest to find out where it all went wrong, starting with his failed marriage. He finds along the way that revenge is not all it's cracked up to be in this 'Twilight Zone' esque thriller.
I was thoroughly entertained by this film. It had quality sound, look, feel, and suspense to it. The acting was very good in spurts and ok in other parts, but the story is what really drives this film. Writer, director Jay Carver proves that he has a bright future with this offering and I look forward to seeing more of this Georgia based filmmaker.
Whether you are in North Las Vegas like myself, or on the other side of the country 'A Bitter Taste of Magic' is available through mr. Carver's website and gets a strong SEE IT!
I will keep working for you
