In time for summer and barbecue season, there’s a new George Foreman Grill.
The 5 Minute Burger is a compact counter top grill for making quick burgers, sandwiches, and chicken and fish fillets, all while also toasting buns.
The Buffalo Turkey Sliders recipe (see below) was used for testing. Cooking time took slightly longer than five minutes, but it was still quick and easy (and the turkey burgers were delicious). With a sloped design that helps fat drip off burgers (removing up to 42% of fat), it’s healthier than using a regular barbecue grill. It's also easier to clean than outdoor grills due to the nonstick coating, and it has a dishwasher safe drip tray.
The grill is not for large parties and barbecues since you can only do two burgers at a time, but it’s great for one to two, even up to four people, and is perfect for apartment dwellers.
The George Foreman 5 Minute Burger Grill is $29.99 MSRP and will be available this summer at Wal-Mart.
Buffalo Turkey Sliders
1 lb ground turkey
¼ cup bread crumbs
3-4 green onions, thinly sliced
¼ cup buffalo wing sauce
2 Tbs. crumbled blue cheese
8 mini hamburger buns
Combine all ingredients, except buns in a large bowl; mix well. Shape turkey mixture into eight ½-inch thick patties (about 2 oz. each).
Place 4 buns tops cut side down on bun toaster plate while preheating your 5 Minute Burger George Foreman grill. Place 4 patties on grill; cook 5 min. or until cooked through (170° F).
Repeat with remaining patties. Serve on buns. Servings: 8
For full size burgers, shape turkey mixture into 4 patties.
Add lettuce and tomato for extra crunch and flavor.
