4 Rivers offers BBQ meat in heaps, on sandwiches, and on salads. The dinner plate comes with a huge helping of smoky goodness (brisket, pulled pork, chicken, sausage…) as well as three side dishes and a biscuit. The side dish options include an array of southern favorites like BBQ baked beans, smokehouse corn, fried pickles, collard greens, mac and cheese and many others. The restaurant has a cooler full of classic sodas like Coke, SunDrop, and Cheerwine in the glass bottle; fountain drinks are available as well. There is an in-house bakery featuring unique cupcakes like Mountain Dew and Dorito or Maple Bourbon Bacon. The downside to this home-style gem of a BBQ joint is that there are not many vegetarian options available. It is a smokehouse after all.
The atmosphere suits the smokehouse style with picnic table seating and an open-air patio area to provide that summer BBQ experience. The patio area is covered, allowing guests to enjoy the Florida warmth in sunshine or summer rain.
The restaurant is largely self-serve, but the staff is very friendly and efficient as they prepare each order. For the quality of the food, the price is delightfully reasonable, running about $12-13 for a dinner plate and about $8-9 for a sandwich. The serving sizes are generally pretty large, so there is a great potential for leftovers.
There are three 4 Rivers Smokehouse locations with one in Winter Park, Winter Garden, and Longwood with a fourth location coming soon to Jacksonville.
