After being absent from the silver screen actor Kevin Costner is making a comeback in a familiar role. In his new action film Costner plays CIA agent Ethan Renner, a man torn between thrill seeking and the love of his family. For the most part the movie is action packed, but the sidelines of squatters rights, father daughter bonding moments, and over the top girl next door turned evil fem-me fatal are a strange mix. It feels like watching a movie with an identity crisis of sorts.

The story opens with an unassuming almost mousey agent Vivi Delay ( Johnny Depp's real life love interest actress Amber Heard) being handed orders to take down a couple of international terrorists called the Albino (Tomas Lemarquis) and the Wolf (Richard Samuel). After taking the assignment she is told she'll be working with the seasoned CIA agent Ethan Renner (Costner).

Their first encounter is in Yugoslavia where a new 2.0 vixen like Vivi and Ethan are part of a bloody altercation occurs leaving multiple casualties and the Hotel Yugoslavia blown to bits. Ethan almost has the Albino in his grasp when suddenly his heart begins to race soon he is overcome with heart palpitations and becomes unconscious. When he awakes in the hospital he is informed by the doctors that he has a form of brain cancer and only months to live.

Faced with his certain death he comes to the realization that he has put his family on hold for too many years, and it causes him to re think his priorities. He heads to Paris to try to re connect with his estranged wife Christine (Connie Nielson) and teenage daughter Zooey (Hailee Steinfield) .

When he arrives home he finds his flat has been taken over by a group of immigrant squatters, and this is where the story begins to get a little disjointed and heads in too many directions. The movie had its ups and downs. If you liked Costner in his past agent roles, or just enjoy looking at a pretty face wrapped in skin tight leather and stilettos this may be the movie for you. Check out '3 Days to Kill' opening in theaters today.
