Well 21 Jump Street was amusing and over all entertaining so why not 22 Jump Street? Only this time Officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko ( Channing Tatum) are sent “undercover” to a local college in pursuit of a new and evil drug. Jenko finds himself on the school football team where he and team quarterback Zook become very good friends as Schmidt is quickly drawn into a relationship with Maya played by the stunningly beautiful Amber Stevens. There is however a huge problem that unfolds when they learn that Maya is actually Captain Dickson’s daughter.
There is plenty of often rough humor with plenty of “F” bombs which does cheapen the show. When I see material like this with so much profanity I think about the greatest comedian that has ever live, the great Bill Cosby. Cosby built a great comedy career with never an “F” bomb in the act. I guess going to the “F” bomb is what you do when you are dealing with something less than the best.
Even with that said 22 Jump Street has plenty of entertainment value in its just shy two hours run time. Just leave the kids at home for this one. It enjoys a very strong 8.1 IMDB rating and earned $25 million dollars opening day so it clearly does have strength.
