2014 Grammy Review

2014 Grammy awards

The 2014 Grammys aired live in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center. It was a great night as LL Cool J hosted the show for a third time around.

The ceremony opened up with a great highly anticipated performance from the Queen Beyonce Knowles Carter as she offered a sexy dance routine and chair dance with her first live performance of “Drunk in Love” with an assist from her leading man hubby, rapper and top 100 Billboard Powerhouse Sean “Jay Z” Carter. The hip hop couple looked FLAWLESS!

Clearly, Beyonce was ready to set the mark high for the performances for the night. Of course, there was an array of showmanship among the stage with : Kendrick Lamar who wowed the crowd and had them rocking and dancing, John Legend’s heartfelt serenade to his wife Chrissy Teigen singing “All of Me”, Pink who left us thinking we all need to get some gymnastics and strength exercises in our lives, Katy Perry and Juicy J who provided great stage props and a cute dance routine, Taylor Swift with her moving piano number, Daft Punk with Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams who set the bar high with Stevie Wonder being added. And if that weren’t enough of course, the icing on the top of our cake was when Madonna served as a bridesmaid singing while 30 couples displayed their love in holy matrimony with Queen Latifah officiating.

Needless, to say the night was full of surprises with performances and with the big winners of the night. This was definitely a “Lucky” night for Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams who claimed the title for “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year.”

The big winner for Nashville was 25 year old Kacey Musgraves who walked away with “Best Country Album” for “Same Trailer Different Park” and “Country Song” titled “Merry Go’Round.”

Other big winners of the night were Lordes, Jay Z, Macklemore which still has critics and celebrities buzzing since he walked away with an award for Best Rap? Of course, the music world felt as though Kendrick Lamar was robbed and should have won!

Overall, this was a night full of magic and there were definitely a lot of tricks pulled out of the hat and bag. As a music connoisseur one could appreciate the variety and stagesets. On the other hand, I definitely would have liked to change some of the winners.

If you watched the Grammy’s what did you think? Who was your favorite and least favorite performance? Did you agree with the winners or not?
