2011 Billboard Latin Music Award winners

The Latin Billboard Music Conference and awards returned to Miami after an absence from Miami last year due to it was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The three day conference kicked off with a Billboard Pre-Conference Poolside party April 25 and ended with the awards presentation televised live April 28. This year’s awards presentation was hosted by Venezuelan Daniel Sarcos, actress Aylin Mujica, and actor Rafael Amaya.

Among present to enjoy the awards show presentation was Hector L. Perez of Tampa, FL whom won an all expense paid trip to this years Billboard Latin Music Awards show. He was selected among many entries at a contest held at Azucar Night Club.

The opening featured dancers dancing to selected nominated songs followed by Enrique Iglesias and Lucero as the first artists to perform live. Dyland y Lenny along with Cata and Chino y Nacho, JenCarlos and Pitbull’s superb performances and to mention Marc Anthony’s emotional, vein popping interpretation of his latest single ‘A Quien Quiero Mentirle’ as well as Gloria Trevi with ‘Me rio de ti’.

Special award were presented by Natalia Jimenez of Quinta Estación whom had the honor to present veteran Gloria Estefan Billboard’s ‘Spirit of Hope’ award for her philanthropic work.  As to mention musician Emmanuel who was honored with Billboard's Lifetime Achievement Award. The Premio Tu Mundo which was voted by fans went to Aventura.

Leading with nine awards was Enrique Iglesias whom shared his excitement with his fans in the audience, while Shakira followed with six Billboard Latin Music Awards. Newcomer Prince Royce, who continued the Aventura tradition of blending danceable bachata with urban sensibility, won four including Latin Artist of the Year, while Aventura themselves, along with Camila, Daddy Yankee and Juan Luis Guerra received three awards.
