This past May 3rd, National Distributing Company and Atlanta Wholesale Wine presented their 6th Annual Spring Fine Wine Show at The Georgian Terrace in mid-town Atlanta. TGIC Wine Importers offered several fine wines from Pascual Toso to taste.

Pascual Toso, an Italian immigrant from Piamonte, Italy; founded the winery in the mid 1880s. Today is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Argentina. The first winery was establish in San José, Guaymallén. By the early 1900's Pascual Toso expanded the business and acquired vineyards in Maipú. At his estate “Las Barrancas”, he built another winery, which is dedicated to producing and growing the finest grapes.

In 2001, Pascual Toso S.A. hired the services of Mr. Paul Hobbs (prestigious CA winemaker) as wine maker consultant. He has been working along with chief winemaker, Rolando Luppino, on the development of new projects for quality wines. Today, Pascual Toso still makes wines of high quality under the most strictest procedures and rules.

2009 Pascual Toso Alta Reserve Malbec: This Malbec shows fruity aromas of dark berries, plum black cherries and dark currant joined by lavender, leather and oak. On the palate this wines feels dense and well structured with nice acid, medium tannins and layered flavors of ripe dark fruit, currant marmalade, cedar and oak. Enjoy this wine with your favorite cut off grilled beef, roasted lamb with vegetables, red meat sauce over pasta and aged cheeses. Average retail price for this wine is $30-$36.
